Why did Congressman Panetta vote (bill number H.R. 8282) to sanction the International Criminal Court after it requested arrest warrants for Israeli and Hamas leadership for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity? Do we agree that the ICC has jurisdiction over Palestinian territories and is doing its job of enforcing equal justice under the law? Should we bully an international court? Is this vote by our congressman in line with our values? Do we in the United States believe in international law and equal justice under the law?

The Sentinel welcomes your letters to the editor. Letters should be short, no more than 175 words. We do not accept anonymous letters. Letter-writers should include their full name as well as a street address and telephone number. We don’t publish those details in the newspaper, but need the information for verification purposes. Occasionally, we reject letters simply because we’ve had so many on the same subject. Submit your letters online at www.santacruzsentinel.com/submit-letters.
