I was one of an overflow audience at Bookshop Santa Cruz last Tuesday evening who delighted in listening to a dozen or so women writers, all over 80, read their poems and essay from a new book, called “When Women Tell the Truth.” It is, in fact a depository of hard-won wisdom and sharp, often hilarious, writing, selected and edited by Wilma Marcus Chandler and Dena Taylor.
Thanks to the Bookshop staff for offering this treasury of brilliance in such a welcoming event. Santa Cruz can be very proud of its sharp-minded, highly skilled older women!

The Sentinel welcomes your letters to the editor. Letters should be short, no more than 175 words. We do not accept anonymous letters. Letter-writers should include their full name as well as a street address and telephone number. We don’t publish those details in the newspaper, but need the information for verification purposes. Occasionally, we reject letters simply because we’ve had so many on the same subject. Submit your letters online at www.santacruzsentinel.com/submit-letters.
