Your front-page article on UCSC arrests was so biased it was difficult to read. Is the Sentinel promoting the UCSC political drama performance? Much was made of one student who had to wear a “spit-bag” over his head. Why, I wonder? Students were engaging in criminal activities beyond protesting. They were given ample time and instruction to leave, and yet they resisted, “taunting police.” The same student reported he had a “heavy” concussion, but it seems he recovered very quickly. Did the author bother to find out if this was even true?
I don’t blame the students; they acted as victims specifically to get in the news. However, I am ashamed of the article, quoting protesters who accused police of violence. The article also quotes a local tedious activist spouting nonsense like “violently tear down the camp.” Yes, the students made a mess to get in the news and we have to clean up after them. Criminal protesters should be held accountable.
We deserve much better, unbiased reporting.
