The Sentinel has chosen to publish several Letters to the Editor about the Palestine/Israel conflict that express a denial of the facts of the catastrophic destruction of Gaza and its population. Some of these writers live outside of Santa Cruz County. They insist that the emphasis of what they read in the Sentinel should be placed on the Hamas attack on Israelis, yet they don’t express criticism of the Netanyahu war cabinet for not getting the hostages released, or for bombing areas where the hostages are being kept.
Some of these writers criticize Amy Goodman for her opinion pieces, something that I thank the Sentinel for publishing. They give Sentinel readers very important perspectives that go beyond the mainstream media coverage of this disastrous “war.”
I expect that a large number of Santa Cruz residents want and appreciate this coverage, which is gleaned from highly knowledgeable contributors. I’m concerned that the Sentinel will stop carrying Goodman’s opinion pieces, something that I think would be a grievous mistake.

The Sentinel welcomes your letters to the editor. Letters should be short, no more than 175 words. We do not accept anonymous letters. Letter-writers should include their full name as well as a street address and telephone number. We don’t publish those details in the newspaper, but need the information for verification purposes. Occasionally, we reject letters simply because we’ve had so many on the same subject. Submit your letters online at www.santacruzsentinel.com/submit-letters.
