PACIFIC GROVE
Class collects native wildflower seeds
This class will set you on the path to help conserve and amplify our native wildflowers from 11 a.m to noon Saturday at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, 165 Forest Ave., Pacific Grove. The event features a demonstration on collecting, cleaning and storing seeds. Participants will be able to make their own seed packets and take some seeds home with them. Class will be held outside and will include a hands-on activity in the museum garden. Did you know that Monterey County has more than 1,500 species of native plants? Unfortunately, many of these species have declining populations. By collecting and creating more areas for these wildflowers to thrive, we can support pollinators, biodiversity and create resilience against climate change.
The early bloomers have begun to set seeds and this process will continue as successive waves of wildflowers complete their life cycles. Now is the time to think about creating a super bloom in your own yard.
