A Santa Cruz Metro driver keeps her eyes on the road as she steers her monarch-butterfly-adorned articulated rig up Heller Drive at UC Santa Cruz. The bus is one of 30 wrapped buses Metro operates as part of One Ride at a Time, a campaign that donates funds to protect our region’s natural resources. Launched in February 2023, most of the buses features images by internationally renowned photographer Frans Lanting. Lanting and his wife Christine Eckstrom founded the Bay of Life project, which was the genesis of One Ride at a Time. Other eminent local photographers such as Jodi Frediani and Kevin Lohman also have images included in the bus project.
