Santa Cruz’s Stefano Profumo and Sarah Kletzer earned 10k titles at the 2024 Santa Cruz Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving.
Hundreds of runners competed in three races, a 10k, 5k, and Kids’ 1k. The start and finish for the races was the entrance of Natural Bridges State Park.
Profumo took first out of 97 runners in the 10k race in 36:03. Shane Connor of Clinton, New Jersey, took second in 36:16, and Campbell’s Mason McCaskill took third in 37:20
Kletzer won the women’s title in 43:35. Michael Janes of Palo Alto took second in 44:56, and Portola Valley’s Livia Conley took third in 48:54.
In the 5k race, Santa Cruzans made up the top six finishers. Camden Jaureguy edged Graeme MacLean for the title after both finished in 15:45. Kees van der Meer (15:48) took third in the field of 212 runners.
San Jose’s Ramneek Kaur won the women’s 5k title in 18:38. Watsonville Sally Stoik (21:39) took second, and Walnut Creek’s Courtney Hoyt (22:06) took third.
A kids’ 1k race was also held, but full names weren’t published for finishers.
