SANTA CRUZ — The alleged getaway driver in the August double shooting near the Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor turned herself in to authorities this week.

Jakaella Porter, 27, of Carson, appeared for arraignment Wednesday morning on three counts of felony accessory after the fact charges for allegedly aiding and abetting Moses Dollar.

Dollar, 27, also of Southern California, allegedly shot and injured two men shortly before 9 p.m., Aug. 8, in the harbor parking lot off of Fifth Avenue. One of the shooting victims has since been released from medical care while the second victim remained under treatment for serious injuries but was expected to survive, according to Santa Cruz Deputy Police Chief Jon Bush.

Police investigators believe Moses and the two shooting victims were involved in an altercation prior to the shooting. Moses allegedly fled the scene in a black Dodge Charger, according to police.

The  Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Lakewood Station, assisted the Santa Cruz Police Department in arresting Dollar on Sept. 18. He was arraigned on and pleaded not guilty this month to two counts of attempted murder with several felony enhancements, shooting at an occupied building and carrying a concealed weapon.

“Our detectives have been working nonstop,” Bush said. “This was obviously a significant crime. It was great work by investigations.”
