A vibrant sunset colors the sky above Carl Conelly Stadium at Cabrillo College Saturday evening as the varsity football squads of Harbor and San Lorenzo Valley high schools scrimmage. More than half of the high school football programs in Santa Cruz County saw their first action of the season at the annual jamboree at Cabrillo. The jamboree is a yearly warmup for coaches, athletes, officials and journalists as each team competed in six 10-minute scrimmages, three on offense and three on defense. A running clock was used for each session. Teams participating in the 2024 jamboree were Santa Cruz, Harbor, San Lorenzo Valley, Scotts Valley, Aptos and Watsonville.
